THE Redditch and South Warwickshire Combination Football League returned last weekend with four leagues and several new teams and grounds.
The league system now consists of a Premiership, Championship, League 1 and League 2 model.
Some 101 goals were scored across all of the matches whilst two pitches were unable to host matches due to the heatwave.
The game of the week came in League Two as Bartley Reds B beat Astwood Reds 2-0 with both new teams fielding young players.
Another new team, South Birmingham Activ, thrashed Catshill Rangers 13-1 at home in a goal-scoring frenzy.
Elsewhere, Stoke Prior lost 3-2 at home to Rubery Memorial whilst Red Star Bromsgrove hosted Redditch Town and lost by the same scoreline.
In League 1, 24 goals were scored in four matches. Rednal Bilbao beat fellow new boys Churchfields 8-1 and, returning to the Redditch League, Frankley United beat Oasthouse Ath 2-0.
Redditch Borough LA were held to a 2-2 draw against Hizza United whilst Bromsgrove Rangers beat Crusaders 8-1.
In the Championship, another four matches were played as AFC Walkwood held Meadow Park 3-3 and Redditch Borough JW beat Astwood 8-1.
Abbeydale beat Redditch Borough NT 3-1 and two existing teams faced each other with the score finishing 11-0.
In the Premiership, 11 goals were scored in three matches as new boys Arrow Valley beat AFC Thomas Brothers 3-2, VKL lost 3-0 to Catshill and in an interesting match last year’s champions Austin beat Quinton Athletic 2-1.
