REPORT

Division 1 action returned this week as Quinton Athletic won the battle of the two unbeaten sides, securing a 5-2 win against Rubery Athletico with Jordan Murphy netting a brace and new goalkeeper McCarthy scoring from out of his own hands.

In the division’s other match, Mostyn Rangers picked up their first win of the season with a 4-2 success away at Meadow Park.

Division 2 had just the one fixture in which Arrow Valley won 2-0 at Coldstream thanks to goals from Callum Towler and Dave Evans.

And there were a pair of fixtures in division 3 as Bvilly Block maintained their good start to the season with a 4-1 win at home to Red Star Bromsgrove whilst South West Alliance and Crusaders played out a 1-1 draw in a local Rubery derby.

Additionally, the league’s FA Cup (WA Harris Cup) began with Redditch Borough LA, AFC Blackwell, Chaddesley Corbett and Bromsgrove Partisan all advancing to the next round. AFC Blackwell were resounding 7-0 winners away at FC Redditch whilst Chaddesley Corbett required penalties to get the job done after a thrilling 3-3 draw with Frankley United.

Lastly, in the Birmingham Premier Cup, Longbridge Social secured an impressive 3-1 win away at Kidderminster Premier side Wombourne Pool Bar but in the Amateur Cup Real Norton failed to progress to the next round after suffering a 6-1 defeat to Erdington United.
