TIM Flowers admits he needs to galvanise his players after Bromsgrove Sporting failed to secure safety following a 2-0 home defeat against AFC Sudbury.

Second-half goals from Simeon Jackson and Joshua Allen kept Sudbury’s slim survival hopes alive and denied Sporting the chance to seal their place in the division next season at the Victoria Ground.

And with the Rouslers four points clear of the drop with two matches left to play, Flowers insists Sporting must find a way to get a result ahead of a tough trip to play-off chasing Stratford Town this weekend.

Flowers said: “I said at half time, find a way to get on the right side of that fine line, we go one-nil down, we miss a penalty, again we’ve fallen on the wrong side of the line.

“It’s disappointing, we’ve found a way to lose the game, I’ve got to find a way to galvanise the group now for two more games to get a result we need. We need to do our own job and get the results we need.

“Stratford is a tough game, they are not up there for no reason, they’re strong, they’ve got some good experience in the side and one of the top scorers in the division.

“We’ve got to make it a tough game for them, make no mistake, we’re not rocking up there for damage limitation, we want to get a result.”

Sporting went into the game knowing a point would secure their place in the Southern League Premier Central next season.

However, after a goalless first period, Sudbury broke the deadlock on 63 minutes when veteran striker Jackson poked home Joe Neal’s cross from the right.

The home side won a penalty soon after with Sudbury penalised for handball only for Sporting skipper Luke Rowe to see his spot kick superbly saved by James Bradbrook diving low to his right.

And Sudbury sealed the points six minutes from time when Allen lashed a shot past Ollie Taylor from the edge of the penalty area.

Bromsgrove travel to Stratford on Saturday, April 20 with kick-off at 3pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
