INSIDE VIEW - Craig Jones' Bromsgrove Sporting column

Bromsgrove Editorial 12th Oct, 2018   0

Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Craig Jones writes for The Standard in his weekly column, reflecting on the victory over Dunstable and the squad’s strength in depth this season.

ON SATURDAY we weren’t at our best but again we showed we aren’t just a team who can play good attacking football, but one which can grind out results when needed.

Dunstable got men behind the ball and looked to counter quickly but I thought we dealt with their movement well, especially in the first half.

We aren’t under any illusions, we can and will play better but that’s three clean sheets in a row in the league and seven points out of nine against some tough opposition.

Charlie coming off the bench to score with his second touch epitomises the quality we have in our squad.

The gaffer has added some real talent and depth this year, with all the new lads coming in and making a positive impact.

It’s a squad game and praise must go to the lads who are biding their time, training hard and pushing on the boys who are lucky enough to be selected in the starting XI.

Saturday sees the start of a real tough run – four away games against some good sides will give us a great indication on what we can achieve this year.

On Tuesday (October 16) we pay further respects to one of our own, Thomas Jones.

We are playing an RAF Representative side with all proceeds going to Thomas’ family.

Please spread the word, we’d like as many people at the Vic as possible to make Thomas proud.
