YOUNG PEOPLE wanting to learn firefighting skills can attend a special event in Droitwich next month.

Teenagers aged 13 to 17-years-old will have the opportunity to join the Young Firefighters Association (YFA), which helps young people challenge themselves, make new friends, learn new skills and help their communities.

The awareness evening at Droitwich Fire Station, Friar Street, will take place at 7pm on October 18.

There the young people will be able to find out more about what the YFA is, what is involved and watch a demonstration from current YFA recruits.

New members of the YFA will undertake a 13-week training course where they will learn firefighting skills, which will then be demonstrated at a passing out parade.

As well as spending time learning new skills on the training yard, YFA members also get to attend an annual camp and undertake lots of fun activities.

Watch Commander Ade Taylor, said: “The YFA is a great opportunity for young people to learn new skills and expand their horizons.

“Not only do we teach the new recruits firefighting and rescue skills we also have fun events organized such as canoeing, mountaineering and more.”

Visit www.hwfire.org.uk, email [email protected] or call 01905 795889 for more information about the Droitwich YFA.
