Council close road as 'dangerous' Bromsgrove sinkhole doubles in size in less than 24 hours

A RAPIDLY growing sinkhole has appeared in Bromsgrove creating a danger for both motorists and pedestrians.

The site on Carlyle Road, Aston Fields was reported to Worcestershire County Council’s highways department over the weekend before a warning was shared by a user on Facebook.

A post on Facebook at 6.50am on Sunday, April 21 said the hole had doubled in size since the previous afternoon.

The post read: “Please be careful if you drive down Carlyle Road in Aston Fields.

“A sinkhole has opened up and is getting larger quickly.

“I think this could become dangerous very quickly.”




A spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council, said:

“Following receiving the report of the sinkhole on Carlyle Road over the weekend, we attended the site to close the road and make the area safe.


“Further works to investigate the issue and repair the road are being dealt with as a priority.”
