A TEENAGER suffered significant leg injuries after the car he was driving crashed into a tree near Hagley.

The 19-year-old was travelling down the A456, Kidderminster Road South, in a black Volkswagen Golf, about 1.25am on Saturday (October 25).

It is believed the vehicle was going around a bend when it left the carriageway and collided with a tree. The teenager managed to climb out of the vehicle onto the roof before emergency services arrived and he was taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed at Broome Lane and Hagley Cross Keys.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said officers were anxious to hear from anyone who saw the collision or the circumstances leading up to it.

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
