Speeding A449 driver jailed after twice denying he was behind the wheel

A WORCESTERSHIRE motorist has been jailed for six months after twice denying he was behind the wheel when caught doing 64 miles per hour on the A449.

Mihail Florea was detected breaking the 50 miles per hour speed limit in May 2021 but denied being the driver and nominated two other people on two separate occasions.

That’s despite him being sent photographs which appeared to clearly show it was him driving. He was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court last Tuesday (June 14) for perverting the course of justice

Supt Steph Brighton from West Mercia Police said: “There are many local residents whose quality of life is affected by people speeding through their community and families who unfortunately have experienced the devastating consequences speeding and collisions can lead to.

“Enforcing the speed limit is a priority for us and those who chose to lie about such offences will not escape the law.”
