RESIDENTS at Bromsgrove’s Breme Care Home participated in chair-based exercise sessions and made their own vegetable soup as part of a ‘wellbeing day’.

They started the day with their armchair exercises which include light movements to help mobility and enjoying their hearty ‘five-a-day’ treats for lunch.

Residents peeled, sliced and diced an abundance of carrots, onions, swede, courgettes and other colourful winter vegetables to transform the fabulously fresh produce into deliciously thick homemade soup.

The wellbeing day was set up to show the fun ways to stick to a healthy diet.

Home manager Rebecca Rudge said with everyone trying to stick to new year’s resolutions, it was the perfect time to do it.

“Eating healthy often has a bad reputation for being boring and we wanted to change this, we wanted to show everyone that if we can do it so can you.”

One resident, Cynthia Daniels, 85, added: “It was a lovely day, I especially enjoyed making the soup and preparing all the vegetables, it look me back to when I used to do similar meals for my family.”
