THERE will be bands, bars, bouncy castles and more in Romsley next Saturday (June 13) when the annual Romstock festival takes place on the village’s playing field, off St Kenelms Road.
Among the artists in this year’s line-up are Oasis tribute act Okasis, folk rock band Gypsy Blood, acclaimed ska/soul band Rudie and the Revolvers, rockability group The Bravo Boys and party band Got the T-Shirt.
Also playing is talented acoustic guitar singer Esther Turner and the event will be compered by former Birmingham Poet Laureate Spoz, aka Giovanni Esposito.
Romstock was originally launched in 2012 for the Diamond Jubilee when Romsley Parish Council organised a small fete with some bands.
Band co-ordinator Mark Moran said: “Last year was a genuine ‘Field of Dreams’ event as the public turned up in droves.
“And this year promises to be even bigger and better.”
Other attractions include the skate park, children’s play area and a variety of stalls, including ones selling food and drink.
All profits from Romstock go towards funding youth community projects in the area.
Tickets are £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and free for under fives.
They are available on the gate or in advance – from The Spar in Romsley or by calling Dave Powell on 07731 802459 or Louise Bestwick on 07964 271454.
Gates open at midday and the first band takes to the stage at 12.15pm.
The event will end around 8.30pm.
Romstock tickets can be purchased in advance from the Spa store in Romsley or simply pay on the gate.
