AN APPEAL has gone out for witnesses following a fatal car crash in Wythall.

A woman in her 40s died after crashing her Fiat 500 into a tree on Hill Lane yesterday morning (Wednesday).

She had been driving along the road from Weatheroak Hill towards Chapel Lane at around 9.20am when the vehicle is understood to have left the road and collided with a tree.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two ambulances, a BASICS doctor, a paramedic area support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor on board attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival, ambulance staff found a member of the public performing CPR on the woman.

“Staff and medics took over resuscitation efforts and commenced advanced life support at the roadside.

“Despite the best efforts of the passer-by and ambulance staff it was not possible to save the woman and she was confirmed dead on scene.”

Officers are keen to speak with anyone who saw the incident or who can help with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 117S of 29 March.
