NEARLY £8,000 was presented to Dodford Children’s Holiday Farm following an annual bike ride.

The Retro Run saw more than 150 riders dust off their BMX’s, Choppers and general ‘old school’ bikes to ride the route from Bournheath to Belbroughton and back.

The event, which is in its seventh year, started and finished at the Nailers Arms and stopped at other pubs en route.

Organisers Wesley Gardner and brothers, Sid and Nick Griffin visited the holiday farm when deciding which charity to support and saw that funds were needed for the general maintenance of the site.

After previously donating to large charities they decided to support this small, local charity this year and handed them the cheque for £7828.

Kelly Broadfield, manager at Dodford Children’s Farm, said: “We are over the moon with the amount raised by The Retro Run and would like to thank the organisers for choosing to support us and everyone who took part, donated raffle prizes or bought tickets.

“We can now start some long awaited projects to improve our facilities and offer more disabled and disadvantaged children a memorable visit to our farm”.
