Headway charity shop marks first birthday in Rubery

A CHARITY shop supporting people with brain injuries is celebrating a successful first year in Rubery.

Headway, New Road, celebrated the anniversary by providing refreshments for customers and organising a visit by a group of the charity’s brain injured clients, who enjoyed a spot of shopping.

The shop’s proceeds fund the specialist brain injury services provided by Headway Birmingham and Solihull.

This includes the charity’s Leighton House brain injury unit at nearby Great Park in Rednal, it’s Headway House centre at Moseley Hall Hospital and the its Carers Services, Lifestyle Services and new Sports and Wellbeing Programme.

Shop Manager Sue Wilcox said the first 12 months had flown by and everyone was pleased with the progress made.

“One year on, we have a shop to be proud of, with a range of good quality stock and many customers who call by on a regular basis.

“This is an ideal time to thank everyone who has helped make the shop such a success – from those who have donated their unwanted possessions to the team of volunteers who work so hard week in, week out to keep the shop looking so good.

“It really makes a difference and I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone involved for their ongoing support.”

The shop is open from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday.

Anyone interested in volunteering can email [email protected] or contact Alison on 0121 457 7541 (option 5).
