IT WAS a happy 100th birthday for former nurse Doris Pulley, who worked at both Smallwood Hospital in Redditch and the old Bromsgrove General Hospital.

Doris was born at Berrow Hill in Feckenham on January 20, 1922.

Her great granddaughter Victoria Robins said: “As soon as she was old enough she enrolled to train as a nurse at Smallwood.

“She spent many years working there and the old Bromsgrove Hospital.

“In her later years she worked in casualty and outpatients until she retired when the new Alexandra Hospital was opened.”

Doris, nee Farley, has a daughter Rita, granddaughter Jayne and great grandchildren Emily, Victoria and Matthew.

She now lives in Richmond Wood Norton Nursing Home in Evesham.

She spent her 100th birthday with her family and the staff at Wood Norton who arranged a very special tea party for her as the home is at present in lockdown due to Covid-19.
