NEW FIGURES released by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) show residents in Herefordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire raised an astonishing £296,902 last year for the charity, writes Ben Fox.

BHF’s research is often life saving and is funded by the community.

People across the three counties have shown they’re all heart as they’ve taken part in countless charity events and fundraisers in their unstoppable pursuit to aid the BHF’s life saving research.

The urgently needed funds go in to helping find fundamental breakthroughs in the fight against heart and circulatory disease

This includes:

More than £10,000 raised through partnerships with local business.

Around £1,500 raised through local clubs and associations.

More than £13,700 raised through local school fundraising.

More than £41,000 raised by fundraisers holding their own event for the BHF’s Do Your Own Thing campaign.

Family and friends of Alan Dews from Northfield vowed to raise £9999.99 in his memory after he died of cardiac arrest aged jut 37. They raised £6000 from various events such as bike rides and charity football matches.

Dorothy Dews, father of Alan, said: “We are making it our mission to support the charity’s (BHF) life saving research. We are desperate to do something to stop families and friends of loved ones suffering a similar tragedy and for some good to come out of our devastating loss.”

Heart and circulatory diseases claim the life of one British person every 3 minutes. Thanks to the large generosity of the British public BHF is finding new ways to counter and prevent these life threatening diseases.
