BROMSGROVE’S ‘biggest ever’ Timberhonger 10k race raised more than £6,000 for four local charities.

The popular event, part of Bromsgrove Carnival weekend in July, had 650 entries this year, its biggest ever, plus 200 young runners in the accompanying Children’s Challenge.

The run was raising money for Primrose Hospice, the Basement Project, Midland Air Ambulance and Libby Mae’s Little Angels.

Race Director Mark Graham met up with the charities last week in Sanders Park where the event was held and presented each with a cheque for £1,500.

Michelle McCracken, Worcestershire fundraising manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said:

“We are very grateful to the Bromsgrove Timberhonger 10k for choosing to raise money for our charity.

“With each air ambulance mission costing on average £2,500, funds raised from the event will help to fund a future lifesaving mission.”

The amount raised is boosted by local companies donating their services for free – Morrisons staff were on hand to give out water at the finish, property company BAM provided the traffic barriers, and Cotswold Outdoor from Wychbold donated the winners prizes.
