Bromsgrove stage school launches its own Christmas Choir

Bromsgrove Editorial 15th Nov, 2017   0

A CHRISTMAS choir has been set up by a Bromsgrove theatre school to spread plenty of Yuletide cheer this festive season.

Children from the Bromsgrove Stagecoach School have been busy rehearsing hard ahead of their first community concert tomorrow at the Bromsgrove Christmas Market in the High Street between 1.30pm and 4pm on Friday.

This will be followed by fundraising events at Waitrose on December 16 and Asda on December 17 where they will sing festive songs and help with bag packing, to raise money for St Basils.

St Basils currently runs a housing project for 15 young people in Bromsgrove.

As part of the fund-raising project, some of the Stagecoach students will be vising the scheme to see how the money raised will benefit the young people.

Leah Alcock, the principal of Stagecoach Bromsgrove, said: “As a locally based theatre school we want to work more closely with the local community.

“We have a very dedicated group of children who are always keen to perform live in public.

“The new choir enables us to take these talented students out into the community, to provide entertainment combined with important fundraising campaigns.”

The choir will be part of a festive-filled weekend in Bromsgrove.

At midday on the High Street on Friday, MP Sajid Javid will officially open the Christmas market which runs from 9am to 4pm.

On Saturday the market will be open from 10.30am until 8pm with Bromsgrove’s annual Christmas lights switch-on event from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

The plunger will be positioned outside the Golden Cross Pub and BBC Hereford and Worcester’s Malcolm Boyden will host a radio roadshow. Pudsey Bear will turn on the lights at 5.30pm.

There will also be live entertainment and a Father Christmas ‘meet and greet’.
