Bromsgrove MP named Communities and Local Government Secretary in Theresa May's cabinet

BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid has a new job in Prime Minister Theresa May’s first cabinet.

Earlier today (Thursday) it was announced the former Business Secretary has been moved to become Secretary of the Department for Communities and Local Government, a post previously held by the Rt Hon Greg Clark, who now takes over at his old post.

Mr Javid is in charge of a crucial and far reaching portfolio handling affairs as diverse as race equality, urban regeneration, housing and perhaps most importantly of all, planning.

Bromsgrove is currently facing the prospect of accommodating any Birmingham overspill and recently planning inspector Michael Hetherington overlooked objections from the MP to give the green light to building 2,800 homes at Bentley.

Described by insiders as ‘a true Thatcherite’ Mr Javid has previously held the post of Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
