Bromsgrove Dachshund owners can find out more about their dogs at 'Know Your Breed' event

THE LATEST ‘Know Your Breed’ event at Bromsgrove’s Clent Hill Vets, which was dogged with bad weather in December has been rescheduled.

The Dachsund event will now take place next Monday, January 29, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

The event aims to bring like-minded Daschund owners together to share their experiences and there will be a panel of experts on hand to offer advice about the breed.

Pet owners may discover things they did not know about Daschunds and will learn how to manage certain health conditions and behaviours.

The expert panel will feature vet Barbara Grabczyk, a dachshund owner for many years, Clent Hills Hagley’s resident vet Stephanie Greenwood, veterinary nurse Emily Ashdown, a trained canine physiotherapist and laser technician, and Tim Easter, a veterinary surgeon from Willows Referral Centre.

Topics will include health conditions the Dachshund breed can be more prone to, such as Lafora Disease, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), and Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). Guests will learn the symptoms to look out for and can ask specific questions during a Q&A session.

Dachshunds of all shapes and sizes are welcome at the event with their owners but they must be up to date with vaccines and flea and worming treatments. They should also be happy to be in a group situation with other dogs and people.

Clent Hills Vets suggests owners bring a small bed or blanket to the event for their dog to relax on during the talk.

Amy Holloway, Clent Hills’ marketing manager, said: “We were planning a Christmas party atmosphere for this event in December.

“Sadly we had to postpone it due to snow and ice.

“We know the festive season is now well behind us but owners are invited to dress their Dachshunds in party clothes for this event and there will be a prize for the best dressed dog on the night.”

To book a place on the free event visit [email protected] or call 01527 889810 with your name, a contact telephone number and how many people will be attending.
