Lace up your running shoes for the Droitwich Half Marathon

Bromsgrove Editorial 7th Jan, 2017   0

PARTICIPANTS are wanted to take part in this year’s Droitwich Half Marathon – with only a number of weeks remaining to sign up.

Droitwich Athletics Club will once again host the marathon in the town on Sunday, March 5.

The race is open to all runners, male and female, over 17-years-old and who are eager to take part in a challenging course around the beautiful countryside surrounding Droitwich Spa. Entry costs £20.

The road race is both scenic and undulating and takes participants around quiet country lanes of Droitwich Spa, through Salwarpe, Ladywood, Hadley, Porters Mill, and Fernhill Heath, returning via Porters Mill and Ladywood to finish at the High School Athletics Track.

Plenty of parking, changing facilities and refreshments are available.

All finishers will receive goodie bags, a medal and a T-shirt. Cotswold Leisure has also kindly donated prizes for the male and female winners and runners up.

Race director Martin Smith said: “Not everyone realises that Droitwich has a half marathon running event. It is hosted by the local athletics club and we attract runners from all over Worcestershire and surrounding counties.

“The popularity for this yearly event is growing especially as many use it as a training race in preparation for the London or Manchester Marathons.”

Limited spaces are available and entries close Tuesday, February 28.
