BROMSGROVE Sporting chairman Rod Brown stressed the need for ‘experience’ was behind his decision to sack former boss Scott Adey-Linforth.

Sporting sacked Adey-Linforth last week and replaced him with Tim Flowers who returns to the Victoria Ground for a second spell as Rouslers boss.

Brown removed Adey-Linforth as Sporting manager with the club 17th in the Southern League Premier Central table.

Adey-Linforth slammed Brown as ‘disrespectful’ following his sacking after claiming the Sporting chief offered him the chance to stay at the club as assistant coach to Flowers.

However, Brown stressed the opportunity to bring in a manager of Flowers’ experience, coupled with Sporting’s position in the table, was behind the decision to appoint a new manager.

Adey-Linforth has since taken up the manager’s job at Sporting’s divisional rivals Stourbridge and won his first game in charge of his new side against previously unbeaten Harborough Town.

Brown said: “We’ve had a change in the manager. It was a very difficult decision.

“I’ve got a lot of time for Scott. He had a lot of respect from everybody. He was a great coach and great analyst

“The job he did for us last year was terrific but we find ourselves in the same position now that we were when Scott came in.

“The precariousness of our position in the league has caused concern for a while.

“We felt an opportunity was there with Tim Flowers who has worked here before and who’s got a vast amount of experience.

“I felt, and within the board and the discussions we’ve had with the impending situation with the consortium, that there was a need for a more experienced manager.

“A difficult decision for Scott and obviously it was going to be hard for him to take but we’re pleased to say he’s now found another position.”

Brown also spoke about potential investment in the club from a seven-strong consortium in the near future and hinted at the club needing a 4G facility.

The Sporting chairman confirmed the board has received a proposal from the consortium and hopes to make an announcement regarding the submission within the next 10 days.

Brown added: “It’s been talked about for quite a few months now.

“I started talking to members of the local community that were interested in getting involved in the football club.

“It’s something I feel the future of the football club requires.

“The way we operate at the moment, without a 4G facility, where we can gain additional revenue – the need for investment is proving to be difficult.

“We started talking to local businessmen, two of which are already benefactors to the club, we’ve now got seven members of that consortium.

“They are very keen to put together the proposal for the investment and rescue package for the future of the football club.

“That has been submitted in the last few days and has taken a long time. The board will be looking at the proposal very closely and hope to be announcing something in the next week.”
