WORCESTERSHIRE County Council has been highly commended in the Council of the Year category at the West Midlands Regional Energy Efficiency Awards for 2021.
The recognition highlights the work that has been undertaken by the council over the last year and the financial and carbon savings that have been achieved.
Several county council projects have helped to contribute towards its nomination for the top prize across three categories, including Greener Council, Greener Community and Greener Business.
Worcestershire County Council has reduced its carbon emissions by 42 per cent compared to 2009-10 levels and has published the its first Net Zero Carbon Plan.
The Warmer Worcestershire project has supported more than 700 householders to apply for Energy Company Obligation (ECO) funding towards the cost of energy efficiency measures since 2017.
