THERE was success for both Bromsgrove and Droitwich schools at the E-Safety poster design competition.

Emily from Catshill Middle School, Harriet from Westacre Middle School and Jen from Sytchampton Endowed Primary School were among the five winners, fighting off more than 1,000 other entrants from across Worcestershire.

Pupils were tasked with designing posters offering advice to their peers to stay safe online.

The top 50 entries were then taken to West Mercia Police headquarters at Hindlip Hall to be judged on Safer Internet Day.

On the judging panel were Barrie Sheldon, West Mercia’s Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, Sophie Banham from Just2Easy, Paul Barber, Westacre Middle School’s assistant headteacher and E-safety co-ordinator, Brett Laniosh from Catshill Learning Partnerships and the digital leaders from Westacre Middle School.

Mr Barber said: “We congratulate all of the children who took part in the competition, as well as our digital leaders who have taken on much responsibility over the last few weeks and excelled in so many different ways.

“We look forward to working with teachers and pupils across Worcestershire again very soon to promote the importance of being safe online.”

Mr Laniosh said: “It was great to get so many entries – the competition really captured the young people’s imaginations and they came up with some amazing designs to get a very important message across.”
