CHILDREN, parents and staff from Winterfold School will be embarking on a tour to South Africa to commemorate a 17-year partnership with Ncemaneni Primary School.
The enduring collaboration, which stretches across 8,000 miles, has seen culture, knowledge, and support exchanged between the two schools.
Winterfold, in Chaddesley Corbett, said the link-up had a positive impact on both schools and their respective communities and served as a testament to its continued commitment to fostering global understanding and educational enrichment.
Winterfold has been thrilled to announce its forthcoming ninth South African tour slated this month.
Building upon the resounding success of previous tours, the project has helped students build their confidence, increase their curiosity and appreciate how others live.
Participants in the trip connect with their peers at Ncemaneni School sharing cultures and enjoying new experiences.
Winterfold headmistress Denise Toms said the tours had been enjoyed by many children and parents over the years and it was wonderful to be embarking on another one.
“The tour aims to stretch and challenge the children’s learning beyond the classroom and build respect, resilience and confidence.
“This experience is invaluable in helping the children continue to build their horizons for life beyond school.”
Tour leader James Brinkley said it was exciting to be returning to South Africa for the first time in five years because of the pandemic.
“The energy and buzz surrounding this tour from from the pupils, teachers and parents is incredibly uplifting and will, I have no doubt, create a once in a lifetime experience.”
Winterfold’s community has recently generously donated IT equipment to Ncemaneni School.
The school has thanked Barberry and Projective Consulting for sponsoring the kits for the trip.
