THREE Healthcare support workers from Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust have received a national award from England’s Chief Nurse.

Jemma Mulrine, John Wilson, and Jade Maddocks were presented with the prestigious Chief Nursing Officer Healthcare Support Worker Award on Friday.

NHS England’s Chief Nursing Officer Healthcare Support Worker Awards recognise the vital contribution of those in the role.

The winners each received a special pin badge and a certificate signed by Dame Ruth May, the Chief Nursing Officer for England.

Jemma, John, and Jade were all nominated by their colleagues.

Jemma works in the professional development team and is responsible for educating and helping all new Healthcare Support Workers to enable them progress through their competency programme and care certificate.

John is a Healthcare Support Worker in Worcestershire Royal Hospital’s emergency department.

Jade works on Ward 9 at the Alexandra Hospital and was praised for the support she provides for both patients and staff on the ward.

Chief Nurse of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Sarah Shingler, presented the winners with their individual awards.

Sarah said: “Healthcare Support Workers are at the heart of clinical settings and make a real difference every day to the lives of patients as well as the nursing and midwifery colleagues they support.

“We’re delighted to have three Healthcare Support Workers receive this honour from Dame Ruth May.

“Jemma, John, and Jade have been fantastic role models and deserve huge recognition and celebration for all that they do.”
