A TEENAGE mini motorbike rider has been seriously injured after being involved in a crash with a car in Longbridge.

The windscreen of the car was smashed after the significant collision which happened at 11pm last night (Sunday) in Tessall Lane.

The boy had nasty leg injuries and gravel rash to his arms, shoulder and back.

After receiving treatment for his wounds at the scene, he was given pain relief before being immobilised and taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed an ambulance, paramedic area support officer and MERIT trauma doctor attended the scene.

“Whilst it was reassuring that that boy was protected with a helmet, his other injuries could’ve been minimised if he’d been wearing suitable protective clothing such as leathers or kevlar, boots and gloves,” she added.
