POLICE are hunting a man who has absconded from HMP Hewell in Tardebigge.

Andrew Dawson, 36, went missing on Wednesday (April 27) after serving two years of a seven year four month sentence for customs offences.

Dawson is a white man, around 6ft 2ins tall and of a large build. He has light brown hair, short facial hair and blue eyes.

Det Sgt Stuart Hawkeswood said he wanted anyone who had any information on Dawson’s whereabouts to get in touch.

And he said: “We are urging Mr Dawson to hand himself in to the authorities as soon as possible.”

Anyone who knows where Dawson is should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“We would like remind the public that assisting someone in avoiding arrest could be a criminal offence which could result in prosecution,” added DS Hawkeswood.
