Our 'Recipes From My Travels' chef needs your votes in semi-final of national cooking contest

OUR RESIDENT ‘Recipes From My Travels’ chef Paul James has made it through to the semi-finals of the Mutti-Parma Cook 2022 competition.

The contest challenges participants to go create a three-course dinner with one main proviso – every dish has to include tomatoes.

Paul has produced a basil and tomato spicy Granita for the starter, a polpette di papa with Orzo and Parmesan for the main course and a lemon cheesecake with a tomato jelly topping (all pictured above).

He is down to the last five and there is now a public vote.

The three with the highest votes will go through to the live final where they’ll compete against each other at Sauce by The Langham, London, cooking live.

Their menus will be judged by our panel of expert judges – Ben Tish, Gabriella Margiotta, Nigel Barden and Carlo Casoni – based on the several criteria.

These include ‘Making the Mutti Essentials product the hero of the dish’, ‘originality’, ‘presentation’, ‘overall menu appeal’ and ‘taste’.

The menu with the highest score will then be crowned our Mutti Golden Tomato Cook 2022 winner and will win a once in a lifetime trip to Parma, Italy – the home of Mutti, in the Italian Food Valley.

And the trip will no doubt give Paul some more opportunities find new ‘Recipes From My Travels’.
