Numbers stack up for North Bromsgrove High School's champion mathematicians

FOUR students from North Bromsgrove High School were crowned champions of a regional maths competition.

Mackenzie Waller, Lukas Pye, Jim Round and Jack Hines, four year ten students, travelled to Worcester University on Tuesday to compete.

The ‘Maths Feast’ event is an annual competition organised by the Further Maths Support Programme to develop students’ problem solving skills alongside their teamwork and communication.

The students performed particularly well in the final round where the problems depended on previous numerical answers to solve the subsequent questions.

The group out-performed many local schools, even some independent schools, taking the win by 13 points.

The students are keen to take part in other similar challenges in the future as they found the whole experience so enjoyable.
