THE TRADITIONAL Aston Fields Summer Fete and Car Boot Sale will be held between 11am and 4pm this Sunday (July 13).

Admission to the event, at the Bromsgrove Cricket Hockey and Tennis Club, is free.

It is now back for its sixth year and will be the biggest yet with more than 50 stalls, attractions and games for all the family.

Among the activities will be electric go-karts for children, Zorb balls, RUSH hockey, a bouncy castle and slide, classic cars, live music from Andy Thomas and much more.

And, with a hog roast, barbecue, cakes, ice creams, candy floss and all-day bar, no one will go hungry or thirsty.

Fete organiser Paul Munn said: “We have worked hard to continually improve the event and add new attractions for all.

“Providing entertainment to raise our profile in the community and assist with our fund-raising efforts is a great challenge but very worthwhile.”

He added the main focus of this year’s event was on the hockey section which is in desperate need of an artificial pitch.

The Astro-4-All project, aimed at raising funds for an astroturf on the site, was launched almost four years ago.

Bromsgrove Hockey Club, although having been established for more than 120 years, has had to play its ‘home’ fixtures in Redditch for the last 20 years because it did not have an astroturf.

The car boot is just £5 per car with arrival times from 9am onwards. There is no need to book. Sellers can just turn up on the day.

After the fete closes at 4pm, the bar will stay open and there will be more live music from Andy Thomas.

Then, at 8pm, the World Cup Final will be shown in the clubhouse, with commentary broadcast outside into the beer garden.
