THE STAR Project had an incredible start to the summer when 60 young people ventured into the Lickey Hills to create a real woodland set.
Celebrating ten years, the popular theatre school has been running holiday workshops in Barnt Green for many years for youngsters aged four to 18.
After taking on Matilda and Mary Poppins last year, the group chose to be inspired by two classic stories ‘Beauty and The Beast’ and ‘Into The Woods’.
The children were all included in the set design process and ventured into the woods on the final day to create a real woodland set, taking it in turns to add branches and foliage to the stage.
The week-long workshop taught the children such skills as script writing, set design and creation, vocal technique, harmonies and teamwork.
This was proved when they performed in front of more than 100 people on the final day.
Due to the success of the workshop, The Star Project has decided to open its doors again for a Moana Summer Workshop between August 21 to 25 in Barnt Green.
The workshop is £99 for the whole week including two tickets to the show on the final day, sibling discount is also available.
The Star Project also runs weekly classes in Barnt Green, Droitwich and Solihull and will be offering a free session and goodie bag to any child aged 4-18 years old in September.
Open days are Droitwich on September 11, Barnt Green on September 14 and Solihull on September 16.
