FOUR more acts booked themselves in the final of this year’s Search for a Star which will take place at the Austin Sports and Social Club tomorrow (Saturday).

In one of the closest semi-finals ever last Saturday (March 21), Dom Harris, Andy Lee and duo DNA – made up of brothers Richard and Matthew Beckett – went through.

And, in a twist, Dan Peet, who also performed last weekend, was given a golden ticket as the wildcard act.

It was a tough night for the judges, with just a couple of points separating the top three from the rest of the field.

Dom had to endure a lengthy wait after problems with his backing track, but overcame them to secure his place in the final.

He said: “I thought my technical difficulties had lessened my chances but luckily it didn’t.

“I enjoyed my performance which went well and there was fantastic support from the audience.

“I was hoping I would get another chance to take to the stage here – and it now looks like I will.”

Andy added: “I had a problem with my voice all week, but managed to overcome that.

“I knew that if I sang to the best of my ability, I’d be in with a chance.

“I don’t sing much these days so it’s good to be back and to get through to the final of this is great.”

Richard from DNA said: “It has been a great experience – we have really enjoyed it and are looking forward to the final.

“We are going to try a few new things for that.” he added.

There will be ten acts in total at the sell-out Search for a Star final which takes place at the Austin Sports and Social Club at 8pm tomorrow (Saturday).

As well as the four above, there will also be Chris Tierney from Northfield, Esther Turner from Halesowen, Megan Lara Mae from Solihull, Andy Lee from Kings Heath, Reload from Redditch and Kezza Belle from Kidderminster.

The event will be hosted by Peter Lee and the winner will receive £5,000.00 prize money. The runner-up will scoop £2,000, the third place £1,000, fourth £250 and there will be £100 for the rest of the finalists.
