Heart of Worcester College launches sports kit recycling project

Bromsgrove Editorial 4th Mar, 2024   0

HEART of Worcestershire College (HoW College) sports students are helping transform waste into wins as they embark on a sports kit recycling project.

This is the first of several projects being launched to raise awareness of sustainability and the goal of this initiative is to collect and redistribute lightly used sports equipment and apparel within the College, local community and nationwide sports kit recycling programmes.

Students, staff and community members are encouraged to donate gently used sports equipment, including shirts, shoes, balls and any other relevant sports gear.

Items can be donated via the collection bins at the All Saints’ Building in Worcester, Perdiswell Leisure Centre and Redditch campus.

Once the donations have been collected, a dedicated team will sort through them and asses their condition, any items that are in good condition will be cleaned and eventually made available for redistribution within the local community and to national sports kit recycling programmes.

By giving new life to old sports gear, the college is helping to ensure items do not end up in landfills and help to reduce the overall waste footprint.

Donations can be made until Friday May 24.
