SPORTS teams with a focus on benefiting under-represented groups could be in with a chance of securing grants following the reopening of a council scheme.
Bromsgrove District Council has relaunched their Sports Team Grants Scheme to develop and support new teams, activities, tournaments, leagues and events in the region.
Applicants can bid for grants between £500 and £1,000 to help deliver the expansion of their sporting endeavours.
Programme delivery officer for Bromsgrove District Council, Gomez Vincent, said: “This funding is a really good opportunity for sports clubs of all sizes across the district to develop the activities they already do or take the time to develop something new and exciting.”
This round, applications which target the development of under-represented groups such as disability, ethnic minorities, females, or the LGBTQ+ community will be favoured.
Gomez added: “The last round of funding proved successful in helping several local clubs to expand their activities, with some even taking the big, and welcome, step of introducing whole new teams to increase the opportunity for participation in sports across the district.”
The deadline for applications will be May 10. Teams which are awarded grants must deliver their project by March 31, 2025.
A total of £10,000 has been put aside for these grants, all of which has come from the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
