MORE than £500 was raised at a French-themed open day held at Bromsgrove’s Heathbrook House Nursing Home.

Staff dressed up in Gallic costume and those who went along were able to try French cheese and wines.

Four brave members of staff – Gail Bessent, Kerry Jones, Shaun Nash and Nicola Burton – tucked into snails with Gail being given £150 from Simon Thomas from Thomas Brothers Funeral Directors for eating ten of them.

She said: “Everyone who came along really enjoyed it, especially the cheese and wine tasting.

“They also relished seeing the staff munching on snails.” she added.
