A RETIRED train driver has been left amazed by the demand for his new book and the success of a reunion after meeting up with former colleagues for the first time in decades.

Pat Wallace sold 75 copies of his book ‘Life on the Lickey’ at a joint book signing and reunion held on June 14 at the Bowling Green, Stoke Works, and has now sold 200 copies in total.

Mr Wallace said that he was astonished by the demand for the book, which charts his 43 year railway career on the Lickey incline adding ‘I never expected this response and was delighted to meet so many people interested in the railway.

The reunion also proved popular with 15 former colleagues attending with some travelling from Wales, Wiltshire and Nuneaton. Mr Wallace said ‘It was wonderful to see them and catch-up on old times, we have over 470 years’ service between us.

To buy a copy of ‘Life on the Lickey’ Mr Wallace can be contacted on 01527 832823 or visit the Lickey incline Facebook page.
