SUPPORT workers at a Frankley school will join over 1,000 others across Birmingham in organised strike action during SATS exam week.
Workers including teaching assistants, catering staff and grounds maintenance employees from Forestdale Primary School will refuse to work on Tuesday, May 14 alongside as many as 1,500 other school staff across the city.
The strike action comes as Birmingham City Council bosses have been slammed for delay’s in settling equal pay claims lodged by women workers at the authority.
The authority is due back in court this week as talks to resolve settlements has stalled.
Alice Reynolds, GMB Organiser, said: “Birmingham’s equal pay crisis only ends when council bosses’ hand back the wages they have stolen from women workers.
“Without Teaching Assistants and school support workers, these schools cannot run.
“Taking strike action is always a last resort, but these workers have had enough of council delays and broken promises”.
