First tree is planted at Bromsgrove arboretum

THE FIRST tree in Bromsgrove’s new arboretum has been planted.

The idea is to transform the under-used area in Sanders Park between Deansway and Whitford Road into a collection of trees with natural pathways, seating and wildflower areas for visitors to explore and enjoy.

The planting, by Coun Mark Bullivant, the district council’s portfolio holder for leisure, coincided with National Tree Week.

Volunteers have been sought to get involved in the scheme and help plant out the rest of the trees.

Coun Bullivant said: “It was a real honour to plant the first tree of many which will make up our new arboretum and the fact that it was during National Tree Week made it even more tree-mendous.

“The arboretum will become an important part of this park now and for generations to come.”
