PUPILS and staff at Beaconside Primary and Nursery School said goodbye to their deputy headteacher of 34 years this week.

Jackie Blackwood first started when Beaconside was known as The Coppice Middle School and has fulfilled many roles including senior teacher, acting headteacher and, for the previous 18 years, deputy headteacher.

Jackie has contributed a huge amount to the school and has used her music and drama talents to create some of the most wonderful Christmas productions said headteacher Paul Freear.

He added: “Jackie has also played a key role in school development such as implementing our creative curriculum.

“Jackie has made a huge impact on the life of so many pupils, both past and present, and will be surely missed.”
