KIND-HEARTED Bromsgrove girl Emily Faulkner who is leading a campaign to put a defibrillator in every school in Bromsgrove has been presented with her first defib.

And, to cap a magnificent weekend for the ten-year-old and her Every Heart Matters drive, ITV presenter Ben Shepherd also tweeted a picture of himself in one of the heart-themed t-shirts Emily designed.

Rob Underwood from Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation (CCSHF) presented Emily with her first defibrillator at the charity’s funday. The device will be put in Parkside Middle School, where Emily attends.

Rob said: “She knew nothing about receiving the defib on Saturday and her face was a picture.

“The moment was testament to all of her hard work and dedication and hopefully will be one of many.

“She is a real credit to her school which she has now got a defib for and to the whole of Bromsgrove.”

Emily also had a stall at Air Dynamix trampolining clubs competition where she not only competed and her team won first place, but she also raised another £122 selling t-shirts, bags, pens and mugs, along with her range of keyrings, fridge magnets and caps.

Emily’s aunt Galr Fry who runs Focal Image in Bromsgrove which produces the merchandise at cost so as much cash as possible goes to the cause, said: “She is doing a super job.”

Emily has set herself a target of £10,000 to be able to provide a defibrillator for every school in Bromsgrove which needs one. She has now raised a massive £2,208 with some very generous business donations from Stone and Earth and CDC Contracts Ltd due to come in this week.

“We are really proud of her continued work and drive to hit her target and want to thank everyone for their continued support.

“Let’s see what we can achieve over the next few weeks,” added Gail.

We featured Emily’s launch of Every Heart Matters on our front page on June 24.

She was inspired after undergoing a defib training session with Rob and Maggie Underwood from CCSHF and hearing their story.

* The CCSHF funday in Redditch on Saturday was mainly aimed at raising awareness of the charity and the importance of defibrillators.

As well as CPR sessions and stalls, £1,400 was raised for the charity.
