A CROWD gathered for a flag-raising ceremony in Bromsgrove to show their support for the men and women of the armed forces.

It was held on Crown Green, which houses the town’s war monument.

Members of the public were led by local civic dignitaries, community representatives, and Coun Caroline Spencer, the chairman of Bromsgrove District Council.

Coun Spencer said “We fly this flag in Bromsgrove as a symbol of our support for all the men and women of our armed forces, past and present, who face such difficult challenges on our behalf.”

A flag-raising ceremony was also held at County Hall in Worcester.

It was attended by Ian Hopwood, chairman of Worcestershire county council, who said of the celebration: “It is a great and special honour to be able to raise the flag on behalf of our Armed Forces.

“It’s a real opportunity for people across the nation to remember all those who gave their today for our tomorrow.”

Both events were held for Armed Forces Day, a national event which was held on Saturday (June 27).
