BROMSGROVE pair Pat and Derek Walters had more than one cause to celebrate over the festive season when they toasted their golden wedding anniversary on Boxing Day.
The happy couple met in Somerset in 1964 where Pat lived and worked as a machinist.
Derek was from Bromsgrove and worked at Garringtons and he used to take the train down every weekend to meet her.
They were married six months after they met and had three children – Malcolm was born in 1965, Steven in 1971 and Andrew in 1981.
To celebrate their 50th year of marriage, Pat and Derek held a special party with family and friends at the Holiday Inn on the Saturday after Boxing Day.
Pat said the secret of long marriage was doing everything 50/50.
And Derek added: “We would like to thank all our friends for their cards and presents.”
