BIRMINGHAM St Mary’s Hospice is calling on generous cyclists from Bromsgrove and Droitwich to get pedalling for ‘Ride the Reservoir’ – a cycling challenge which takes riders through the West Midlands’ most scenic countryside.

Taking place on Sunday, April 7, Ride the Reservoir is a charity sportive which starts at Bartley Green, before heading into the quaint villages of Romsley, Belbroughton, Chaddesley Corbett, Dodford, Barnt Green and then back to the reservoir.

While the route showcases some of the West Midlands’ most picturesque landscapes, biking enthusiasts will also have to take on challenging ascents, including a tough hill climb at Romsley Hill.

Last year’s event raised more than £23,000 for the hospice which helps support local people and their loved ones who are living with life-limiting illness.

Laura Nash, events manager at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, said: “We’re on the hunt for big-hearted cyclists to help raise crucial funds for hospice care.

“Whether you’re a keen rider or have only been cycling for a little while, this event is a fantastic way to kick start the cycling season.”

Ride the Reservoir is approved by British Cycling – the national governing body for cycling in Great Britain – and is supported by local, independent bike shop, Red Kite Cycles.

Registration costs £22 and those interested can sign up at http://www.birminghamhospice.org.uk/ride-the-res-2019
