A TOWN entrepreneur has taken over the Bestof Bromsgrove franchise and immediately hit the ground running by sponsoring a Young Enterprise Award in the North Worcestershire Company of the Year competition.

Lyndon Stokes sponsored the presentations category at the event and put up a £50 prize for the winning team from Bromsgrove School.

They had set up a business called Pretty Ugly, making handmade products out of recycled material.

The competition featured eight teams from schools in Bromsgrove, Redditch and the Wyre Forest and was hosted by North Bromsgrove High.

Each team set up their own business a year ago and worked with guidance from volunteer advisors, to make and sell products.

During the evening, the teenagers presented an overview of their companies and their trading success.

Julia Neale, Bromsgrove, Redditch and South Worcestershire young enterprise manager, said Young Enterprise was reliant on volunteers and business supporters.

“Without people like Lyndon and those others who’ve been involved we wouldn’t be able to run the programme in our local schools.” she added.

Lyndon said he was proud to be associated with the awards, which were a celebration of the achievements of the area’s best young business talent.
