MORE than £6,500 has been raised for the Primrose Hospice by an Alvechurch-based sports club.

The Ladies Section of Kings Norton Golf Club, Weatheroak Hall, Brockhill Lane, collected £6,787.75 during 2013 and 2014 after making the Primrose its charity of the year twice in a row.

The cash was collected after a variety of activities and events were organised by the group, including Christmas fayres, a Clarins pamper afternoon and raffle.

Two members, Karen Simpson and Pauline Perry, put themselves to the test with two challenging fund-raisers – Karen ran the BUPA Birmingham Half Marathon in 2013 and The Rat Race with Pauline, cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats.

The Primrose Hospice’s fund-raising assistant Katie Willington said: “The Ladies Section are great supporters of Primrose Hospice and have been extremely generous in their fund-raising activities over the last two years.”
