FOOTBALL - Sporting fall to third consecutive defeat at Tamworth

BROMSGROVE SPORTING missed a host of chances as they were beaten 1-0 by Tamworth to suffer a third straight defeat in the league.

The Rouslers failed to score for the second game running as Dan Creaney’s second-half goal proved decisive at the Lamb Ground.

And the result leaves Sporting in 18th place in the Southern League Premier Central table, just one place and three points above the relegation zone.

Gavin Hurren’s side dominated throughout with Callum Ebanks first to have an effort saved by Tamworth goalkeeper Jas Singh before Will Shorrock blazed over from inside the penalty area.

And Singh came to Tamworth’s rescue again soon after when he denied Jamie Molyneux whilst James Hurst found the side netting at the other end from an acute angle.

The Rouslers then spurned a glorious chance after the break when Mitchel Candlin somehow shot over after Ebanks’ initial shot was parried into his path.

And Bromsgrove were made to pay for those missed opportunities when Creaney scored the decisive goal on 69 minutes from inside the six-yard box.

Sporting pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages and almost found it when Ebanks’ shot from 20-yards out was tipped away by Singh after bouncing in front of him.

The Rouslers are next in action at home to Coalville Town on Saturday, March 12 with kick-off at 3pm at the Victoria Ground.
