BROMSGROVE’S Court Leet held its annual ‘outer town’ ale tasting on Tuesday night.
Members of the town’s Court were joined by their counterparts from Henley, Alcester and Warwick Courts.
Among the venues visited were The Crabmill, The Hop Pole and The Bowling Green before the group finished up at The Navigation in Stoke Prior where, as well as tasting the ale, they also had a meal of either fish and chips or steak and ale pie.
Bromsgrove Court Leet’s ale taster Jo Slade said: “It has been fantastic.
“All of the ale tasted was found to be wholesome and fit for the people of Bromsgrove and the surrounding areas.”
The Navigation has been run for the last year by landlords Geoffrey Lee and Iain Harding and this was their first visit by the Court.
Mr Lee told The Standard: “It’s great to be part of this Court Leet ale tasting and to keep the great tradition alive.
“It is also a privilege that they are dining here.”
Kacey Neath, Lisa Forde and Rhia Jones who work behind the bar and as waitresses at The Navigation even dressed up for the occasion in traditional medieval costume.
Each landlord visited, after the ale passed the test, was presented with a certificate and sprig of evergreen.
The evergreen was traditionally hung on the door of the pub to show those who could not read that the landlord kept a reputable establishment.
