Star cellist Jamal Aliyev to perform at Artrix

THERE is a unique opportunity to see one of the most outstanding young cellists at Artrix at 7.30pm on Tuesday (June 28) as part of this year’s Bromsgrove Festival programme.

Jamal Aliyev – winner of last year’s Bromsgrove International Young Musicians Competition – is making a name for himself with appearances at concert halls across Europe and has been hailed as exceptional by cellists such as Julian Lloyd Webber.

The artist began his studies in music at the age of five with his grandfather in Azerbaijan and is now a student at the Royal College of Music in London.

On Tuesday, he will be accompanied by pianist Maria Tarasewicz in a programme feaaturing music by some of the greatest romantic composers, including as Chopin, Franck and Brahms.
