THURSDAY night is the night as the Bromsgrove Folk Club welcomes two-time BBC Folk Award winners Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar.

Greg and Cairan met in 2011 and were soon signed to Fellside Records before releasing their debut album – The Queen’s Lover.

In January 2013, the pair picked up the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk award.

Touring between university exams, they set out for events such as the Cambridge Folk Festival and Fairport’s Cropredy Convention, as well as appearing live on Mark Radcliffe’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Show.

By 2014 they became the recipients of the Horizon Award for Best Breakthrough Act at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards – and their second album, The Call, was released to critical acclaim.

Come and catch them live this Thursday at 7pm. The Bromsgrove Social Club meets at the Catsill Social Club, Meadow Road, Catshill, Bromsgrove, B61 0JJ.

Tickets cost £7 (members), £3.50 (under 25s), £9 (non-members)
