Fairtrade fortnight takes off in Bromsgrove

CHURCHES, schools and local businesses in Bromsgrove will be coming together from tomorrow (Saturday) until March 13 to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight.

A host of events and special menus will be held across the district.

Tomorrow, Bromsgrove Methodist Centre’s Spring Fair will feature a Traidcraft stall where a selection of tempting Mother’s Day chocolate gifts and other food will be on sale.

St Peter’s. Rock Hill and All Saints churches will be selling Fairtrade goods after their morning services and serving Fairtrade drinks as they always do.




The highlight of the fortnight will be the coffee morning at Rowberry’s Garden centre, Chaddesley Corbett on Wednesday (March 9) from 10am to midday.

That has been organised by Kidderminster Fairtrade Town and supported by Fairtrade Bromsgrove. After coffee and cake, Sheena from Kerala, south India will speak about the difference the Fairtrade Foundation has made to her life as a producer.


The event is open to all and tickets at £3 can be booked from Sue Cowan by e-mailing [email protected] or by calling 01562 755552.

Meadows First School, an ECO schools, is focussing on Fairtrade in footsteps project and a competition based on promoting Fairtrade products.

Fairtrade products will be found at many local cafes until March 13.

Lorita’s Bakehouse is adding banana and coffee and walnut cakes to its usual range of tempting goodies.
